Program Overview
The Columbia Breast Surgery Service takes a multidisciplinary approach to breast health and is recognized for its excellence in patient care, research and education.
The Columbia breast surgery fellowship program provides post-doctoral training that builds on basic knowledge about the management of high-risk patients and patients with breast disease.
Fellows become part of the Comprehensive Breast Center, an integral part of the Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Our fellows interact with our Board-certified specialists, including breast surgeons, plastic and reconstructive surgeons, diagnostic radiologists, medical oncologists, pathologists, radiation oncologists, gynecologists, geneticists, psychiatrists, physical therapists and nutritionists, as well as physician assistants and specialized nurses.
The Breast Service works closely with Women At Risk, a privately-funded program that supports patient care, education and research benefiting people identified as having a high risk for breast cancer, and those who have been diagnosed with breast cancer.
We are recognized as a national leader in genetic counseling, refined diagnostic testing and management of this subset of patients.
